INCOMING PRESIDENT'S REMARKS:
               by Barb Birger

I am so pleased to be taking over as president from Sylvia Noneff.  She did a truly wonderful job last year, and I hope to continue many of the projects she started.  One of those projects is expanding the use of the website.  It now includes job openings.  With the reporter shortage, what a great place for freelance firms to post openings.  We will also be posting openings for officialships within Colorado and outside Colorado.  And if you should misplace your latest issue of Ramblings, you can now go to the website and find the most recent issue of Ramblings.

I want to thank Claudette Cotter for putting on a superb Spring Symposium.  She does a great job every year.  If you weren’t there, you missed excellent speakers and a wonderful lunch.  We also raised almost $1,000 from the silent auction and Tupperware sales, thanks to the hard work of Gina DiLuzio.

I’m very excited about the Officers and Board of Directors.  Susie DeWitt is vice-president.  She’s an official reporter in Boulder and has been active with CCRA for several years.  Mary Ann Bishop is secretary-treasurer, an official in Denver, and has also been active in CCRA for several years.  Richard Matt, Anne Hansen, Lisa Wagner, Tamara Knoepfle and Amanda Maze make up the Board of Directors.  Richard, Lisa and Tamara are officials, and Anne and Amanda are in the freelance arena.  This Board is well equipped to handle any issues regarding the Association that may come up during the next year.

One of my goals this year is to set up an e-mail address for Judi Stoneberger, our executive director.  I’m glad to announce that we now have that e-mail address.  It is ccra@frii.com.  In this age of technology, it’s sometimes easier to send an e-mail than it is to make a phone call and leave a message.  Also, Judi can now respond to any questions you may have without trying to guess when she can reach you at home.  It will do away with phone tag.

Susie DeWitt and I will be attending the 2002 National Convention in Orlando, Florida, August 8-11.  We will be the NCSA representatives for Colorado.  I attended last year with Sylvia Noneff as a NCSA representative and learned a great deal about what is going on in National and other associations throughout the country.

I would like to invite anyone who has questions or suggestions regarding CCRA to please contact me either by phone or e-mail.  I will be interested in hearing what you have to say.

NCRA is sponsoring a contest to promote registration for the NCRA Convention in Orlando, Florida, August 8-11.  For every 15 members of CCRA that register for the convention, CCRA will receive one registration to help defray the costs for CCRA.  Each member that registers will be eligible for a drawing to receive an 8-1/2” x 11” black leather portfolio with an embossed NCRA logo valued at $40.  When you fill out your registration, down in the bottom right-hand corner is a box that says, “Office use only.”  Write in “CCRA” in that box and you will be eligible for the promotion.  Thank you for you support in this effort.
